The Ancient Science of Becoming Radiant.

My family is trying to sell our house and buy a new one. A great time of transition that challenges the each of us. I’ve found myself feeling worried often. Several unhelpful old thought narratives are resurfacing in my head. Luckily, I’ve been glued to this amazing book: Invincible Living by Guru Jagat. The exercises have got me into deep breathing, using mantras, and even though I am busy, doing asanas (poses) each morning. My spare moments have been spent reading or becoming inspired by doing Kundalini meditations.

Kundalini is the tradition of yoga that Guru Jagat teaches. This style was originally brought to the West by the famous Yogi Bhajan. Jagat describes it as a Technology. She outlines an introduction to the science behind each of the practices described in the book. The teachings are so relevant to modern life, it’s amazing that they are thousands of years old.

Accessible and Effective Practices

Kundalini is a technology accessible to those who are traveling and those who have never taken a yoga class. A great read for the modern householder and worker-bee as the practices are mostly 3-11 minutes long and many can be done in any setting. I’m inspired by how relevant it is to these challenging and changing times. Invincible Living is a new book that speaks to those who seek ways to live their life with more energy and vibrant wellbeing. Not only can this book change your personal life after taking a few minutes to practice, it will also influence the world around us to be a better place. The effects are noticeable right away.

What is Kundalini Yoga about?

This yoga stands strong in its traditions rather than veering away from its roots to try and cater to Westerners. It’s a technology that has been taught to create leaders and influencers. Kundalini Yoga aims to create more teachers, not more students. The video below is a great introduction to where Guru Jagat comes from as she explains the practice around this mantra “Victory.” One of the easy practices we can do anywhere to raise our vibration. She talks about reprograming ourselves to be generous and more conscious humans. This mantra is powerful and only a taste of the vast teachings of Kundalini. Jagat says they are tools for a more radiant life.

Remembering we are Bountiful

Another mantra I really enjoy is “Bountiful, Blissful, Beautiful Am I.” These are different from affirmations in that by doing them we are influencing and changing not only our thinking but our actual brain chemistry and bodies. One of the goals in changing our experiences is to de-stress. Often I hear people accepting that stress is an inherent part of life and can’t be avoided. I think that is a dangerous thought and also wrong because a lifestyle of stress is a choice. Science is now understanding more and more about yoga. We also know that stress is harmful not only psychologically but physiologically. Therefore, let’s look deeper at our the way we live. I believe in critical thinking and taking action to change what no longer serves us. Invincible Living and Kundalini Yoga is about taking responsibility for your own health and going into action to create more sustainable habits.

Kundalini Book Yoga

Thanks to Guru Jagat’s book, I am now a huge fan of Kundalini yoga and will be incorporating it into my everyday life. Highly recommended reading for those who like to travel or spend a lot of their time “on-the-go” being busy. Published in hardcover, beautifully written, illustrated, including photos and diagrams for reference. Watch out, Invincible Living may open both your mind and your heart.
